Now that you have a good grasp on the major 7th chord and inversions let's move on to some spread or open inversions by using octave displacement, to create even more inversions. We will use the 2-3-4-5 string inversions but displace the note played on the 4th string close voiced chords that we learned in the earlier section and play it an octave higher on the high E or 1st string. For each inversion, look at the chord and pick out each of the chord tones naming the notes.
PLEASE NOTE- The 2nd inversion of these inversions involves a bit of a stretch. Visualize the chord before playing it and it will make it easier to stretch your fingers into place.
