Watch the Sonora Spring: Song Structure online guitar lesson by John Jorgenson from Gypsy Jazz Journeys: Sonora Spring
I'd like to talk just for a minute about the structure of "Sonora Spring":
The intro is a double chorus that starts kind of quiet and then builds up, the outro is also double chorus, which starts strong and even gets bigger. In between, there's a verse, a pre-chorus, and a chorus, then a second verse, pre-chorus, and chorus. The second verse is played a little differently, and I add some things to it, and then you have a solo section, which is built from the chords of the chorus (1st half) and the chords of the pre-chorus (2nd half). So, just flipped around. Then we go back after a couple solos to another verse, pre-chorus, and then onto the outro.
So, it makes use of not that many chords or sections, but it keeps the song interesting because you're not hearing them repeated in the same order each time.
