This is a 32 bar standard tune that has the classic AABA structure of many jazz standards. The startling thing about this song is that despite being in the key of C, it makes use of the D7#11 chord which was quite daring when played over 60 years ago! This cool chord can be realized by arpeggiating it, or by using the D lydian dominant scale (DEF#G#ABC) or the D whole tone scale. I use all of these ideas in my solos and they are very colorful sounds.
