When ending a piece, the sky's the limit in terms of what you can do. You might decide to end with a grand flourish - perhaps an extended cadenza with lots of notes. This would make sense if you were coming out of a fast paced dense solo. If I was ending a beautiful ballad, this might be jarring and not congruent with what I just finished playing. Again, use your ears, and let your heart lead your brain.
