Watch the Voice Leading online guitar lesson by Mimi Fox from Flying Solo

By starting off with the blues, you will be using all the important chordal movements needed for more difficult pieces later on. The blues had a One/Six/Two/Five progression in it. It has a Two/Five/One in it. It also contains all three types of chords: Major, Dominant, and Minor. Once you can voice lead over the blues in one key, try going on to other keys in the same fashion. Eventually, if you can voice lead through a blues, you will be able to take the same concepts and play over any tune.
