Watch the Blues Angular online guitar lesson by Tom Dempsey from 50 Soul Jazz Licks You MUST Know

Blues Angular is a John Scofield inspired idea that is played over a II-V idea but the II chord here is dominant. It is played in such a way where we get into the sound of the chord nicely. In the middle of the lick we have some blues sounding content. The lick ends with an angular sounding idea that features the use of the tri-tone. This kind of tension in the melodic nature of the idea morphs into bringing out the sound of the chord at the very end while featuring the sound of the tri-tone.
