Watch the Hendy Esque online guitar lesson by James Hogan from 50 Jazz Rock Licks You MUST Know
Originally from South Florida, Scott Henderson cut his teeth in top 40, rock, blues, and funk bands back in the mid 1970’s. After a period of studying jazz in music school in the early 80‘s Scott emerged as one of the premier guitarists in jazz rock fusion. His work with Jean Luc Ponty, The Zawinul Syndicate, Chick Corea’s Elektric Band, and especially Tribal Tech is some of my favorite guitar playing of all time. Scott’s also a tremendous composer who’s fantastic tone, deep pocket, and unique phrasing have inspired a couple of generations of players. Henderson is one of my biggest influences and I’m honored to be featured on an album with him!
This lick is primarily based around an Amin7b5 arpeggio. (A - C - Eb - G)
You’ll hear this frequently in Scott Henderson’s 80‘s-90’s era playing with his legendary fusion group "Tribal Tech." This lick also works really well over an A min7 chord or an A7 chord since it shares notes with the A Blues Scale (A - C - D - Eb - E - G). "
