Watch the Rhythmical Octaves online guitar lesson by Reinier Voet from 50 Gypsy Jazz Licks You MUST Know
In this lick I'll show you a very typical Gypsy jazz way of using octaves. Django was the first I heard doing this, on his recordings in the 30's. This time we're not playing the two notes of the octave at the same time with one downstroke. Now we're going to be alternating the two notes in a different way, one that requires a special plectrum technique.
