Watch the Tritone a la Django online guitar lesson by Reinier Voet from 50 Gypsy Jazz Licks You MUST Know

In Django’s version of ‘Manoir de mes Rêves’ from 1949 he opens his solo with a simple, but modern sounding line that is played over a dominant 7th chord. In these years Django was influenced by more modern jazz players. The use of the flat 5 in a dominant 7th chord was very popular and characteristic in bebop. So this lick is not a very common traditional Django lick, but nevertheless very instructive.
