Watch the Moveable Shapes online guitar lesson by Sheryl Bailey from 50 Essential Bebop Licks You MUST Know
A great way to develop a solo is through repetition. With a little use of chord substitutions, this line uses a repeated rhythm and harmonic shape. I make the Cmin7 into an Ebmaj, which creates a Cmin7 9 sound, and move that up a minor 3rd to an Abmaj against the F7, which creates an F7susb9b13. On the Bbmaj, notice the Dmin7 that moves to an Fmaj, to create a maj79#11 sound!
