Watch the The Charleston Rhythm online guitar lesson by Frank Vignola from 1-2-3 Jazz Guitar

The 2nd rhythm I am going to teach you is the Charlston rhythm, named after the dance. This rhythm is used extensively in Jazz, especially with faster tempo tunes. I will demonstrate this rhythm using the C dominant 9th chord. Start by just listening to what I am doing to internalize the sound and feel. Also, try clapping or snapping your fingers to the rhythm. Notice how I release the tension of my hand from the strings with each chord.
