The boogaloo is a 1960's straight-eighths dance groove. In blues circles, it turns up as the basis for Buddy Guy's "Mary Had A Little Lamb" and Earl Hooker's "Two Bugs and a Roach". The all-time classic hard bop boogaloo is still trumpeter Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder", the jukebox hit from his 1964 Blue Note LP of the same name and the track famously repurposed for a 1965 Chrysler commercial. Few subsequent boogaloos by Morgan or his peers were as successful, though not for lack of trying, so you could also check out his tracks "Cornbread" and "Yes I Can, No You Can't" for more in the same vein.
