"Of the Minor Chord" and "Of the Major Chord" means they are notes of the major or minor chord. For example, look at minor shape 1 (tallest green box). Let's assume we move the shape to have the first tab at 0 (open) You have green circles in I-0 II-0 III-0 IV-2 V-2 and VI-0, with a minor root (red dot) at V-2. Notice what the green shape is forming? It's the usual basic shape for an E minor chord! Now, if you know the shapes and understand the pattern in the diagram, you can form a chord wherever you want in the fretboard!
