To continue along the lines of thinking above, we have two more chords: Fm7 (F-Ab-C-Eb) and Gmaj7 (G-B-D-F#). Once again, like we saw in the last segment, the Fm7 chord has an Ab major triad in it, Ab-C-Eb. Fm7 can be seen as Ab/F and that gives us 3 great common tones and the F would be the one different note. Now Gmaj7 is the monkey wrench. The note we want hit for the biggest effect is the F#, which is particularly effective coming from the F natural. Seeing these relationships makes soloing on these changes much easier.
