This song is based on the changes to Stevie Wonder's "Cause We've Ended as Lovers" from Jeff Beck's 1975 release Blow by Blow. I put this one on here as it has some beautiful chord changes that I missed making for years! The chords are Cm-Abmaj7-Fm7-Gmaj7. Scale wise, Cm blues works just fine, but of course there is so much more to think about. As usual, spell out the chords so you can see what's going on.

Right on the first two chords, we see something interesting. Cm is spelled C-Eb-G. Abmaj7 is spelled Ab-C-Eb-G. What do we see when we look at that? A Cm chord is contained in the Abmaj7 chord, so it could be seen as a Cm/Ab, too. By writing these two chords out, we see that they are basically the same chord. As a result, making that change becomes much easier.
