Watch the Chordal Scales: C Major online guitar lesson by Erich Andreas from Nashville Number System Decoded

Here we'll apply the same principles for the key of C. This time our chords are: C - D - E - F - G - A - B*. It's important that you name the number of the chord as you're playing through these chordal scales. For example, when you play the C chord, you should say "one." When you play the D, you should say "2 minor" or "minor 2," etc. It's also important that you can play this chordal scale backwards. Not only are these great dexterity exercises, but you're also doing great things for your theory knowledge and ear training. Remember that with the help of a capo, you can easily play in any key while still using our well known "open" chords.
