Watch the Slaps & Pops online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from 60 Electric Guitar Techniques You MUST Know

It's no secret I'm a funk guy. Many of my ideas come from bass players, including slapping and popping. Making use of the pick hand thumb and first finger propelled by a relaxed wrist this ultra-phat technique always takes the funk to the next level. While the guitar's strings are smaller than a bass, it's still very possible to apply this technique and get great results.
