Example 24 demonstrates the application of the G major 9 arpeggio played with three note power chord structures as a means of generating an E minor 11 harmony. This is an application of tertiary harmony whereby simply lowering the bass note a third, you can generate a different chord. This is based on the slash chord formula Im11 = bIIImaj9/I. By applying this to the root, we can see that Em11 = Gmaj9/E.
