This example takes a four note cell out of the B minor pentatonic scale in seventh position and demonstrates the use of rhythmic modes in an eighth note grid as a means of creating interesting textures. You will also learn how to move this through the B minor pentatonic scale using the chord scale principle which is: move each note of your motif either up to the next note in the scale or down to the next note in the scale. This concept will always yield the same number of riff variations as the number of notes in the scale you are using.
