This first workout puts the four basic triad types - major, minor, diminished and augmented - across the neck starting at the root position (1-3-5). From there you'll play the same chord in the same position, but in its 1st inversion (3-5-1) in workout #2. Then you'll play the next inversion - the 2nd inversion (5-1-3) in workout #3. Basically you're taking the bottom note of a 3-note chord and flipping it up an octave to form the next 3-note chord. Think of it as a game of chord tone hopscotch.
