Going down the path of Mixolydian Workout #2 follows Workout #1's template almost to a tee with two key exceptions. First, you have a formula change that calls for the 7th degree to be flatted where ever you play it - that's what makes this a Mixolydian affair. The next difference is not as cut & dry and it presents itself in bar 4 when you start the diagonal descent. Instead of a consistent parallel tapping approach as seen in Workout #1 where each string pair - 6/5, 4/3, 2/1 - has you tapping on the same frets - 12th, 14th and 17th. This time you're tapping targets are a minor 3rd apart. For example, on the 6th and 5th string pair you'll tap on the 12th fret E on the 6th string and then the 10th fret G. This way the Mixolydian sound has more of a chance to present itself while helping further your tapping awareness skills. Win-win!
