Watch the Duane Allman Style 3: Open E online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Blues Guitar Greatest Hits Vol. 1
Lesson Source: Andy Aledort's Slide Guitar Power
Slide guitar might be at its most effective when used within the context of a slow blues. There are many great examples that come to mind, but a few are Earl Hooker's incredible, "Blue Guitar," which served as the backing track to the Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon classic, "You Shook Me." Earl's "Wah Wah Blues" is another absolutely essential slide track (originally released on the Arhoolie label). Duane Allman contributed brilliant slide work to the slow blues track, "Have You Ever Loved a Woman," that was recorded in the key of C with Eric Clapton for the Derek and the Dominos album, in which style this example is played.
