Watch the Down A Scale online guitar lesson by TrueFire from Blues Guitar Greatest Hits - Vol. 4

Down A Scale is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff McErlain and is sourced from 30 Smokin' Blues-Rock Guitar Licks You MUST Know

Here's a fun one! For this lick, I'm only picking one note on a string using all up strokes. Note wise, I'm just going right down a Bm pentatonic scale. What is tricky is how fast I'm playing it, but once you get the feel for it, it'll get easier. Licks like this have a feel to them that really makes them fun to play.

This one kinda reminds me of Steve Vai, who I really liked when he first hit the scene with his first solo record Flexible. I remember hearing "The Attitude Song" on the "sound page" record that came inside Guitar Player magazine in the 80's, too cool. Then that went away, and next was Notes on Call where you could call up and hear the lick transcribed in the magazine and that was awesome. Soon Notes On Call changed their name to TrueFire and the rest is history.
