Watch the Boot Mill Blues: Rhythm online guitar lesson by Gary Hoey from Blues Rock Reactor

Let's breakdown "Boot Mill Blues". Remember that you have to drop your E string down to the D string to give us an open D kind of sound. For the rhythm part, we start by sliding in and playing a little boogie-woogie shuffle. Then we slide it up to the 5th fret, making the alteration for our tuning, basing it off the G root. Then, we'll go back to our open D pattern that we started with. Next we'll go to the V chord, which is A, staying in the same position. Remember that we're in a swing feel here! There's a slight variation when it gets to the verse, where I take out some of the boogie-woogie and just keep it simple. Start out slow with this one, and work it up to speed after you've really got it down. Have fun!
