Watch the SHT online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from 30 Funk Rhythms You MUST Know

Just as influential as what made up "The 55", the same can be said for "SHT". You have syncopated 16ths and a deep pocket, however this time not a hint of hybrid picking or clustery voicings. This is straight-up street funk propelled by a Dorian vibe and octaves that's meant to be played right along with the accompanying bass line. Take special note: If you're a Screaming Headless Torsos (SHT) fan and you're familiar with their first record, then you're hip to a song called "Hope" from which this rhythm was inspired. You'll also notice I changed the feel from swing to straight. Just like Rhythms 25 & 26 where I twisted "How Soon is Now" into something new altogether, I applied my own vision for the rhythm and came up with something new and cool to play. The funk just makes you do that – don't fight it!
