Watch the Zach Grossman online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from 30 Funk Rhythms You MUST Know

If you're wondering whether or not funk can be played in odd meters, Rhythm 15 does a great job in showing you just how cool it can be. Set in 3/4, "Zach Grossman" smoothly glides through eight bars of punch comping an ascending line cliché idea in Em. You can think of it as a call & response between the chords on beat 1 and the pull-offs on beat 3. The punch comping incorporates the pick hand P2 & P3 (P2/3) playing percussive elements on the 2nd 16th of the beat in every bar. This is textbook punch comping awesomeness. To get maximum groove from this rhythm, be sure to have your pull-offs played within the quasi-double stop scenario on the downbeats of beat 3 in Bars 1-4 and Bar 7 while also nailing those perfect fourth dyads in bars 5 and 6.
