This week's Weekly Workout is dedicated to comping ii-V changes in the key of C. Built from the same bottom three notes, the changes will give you four different options for common tone voice leading that finally resolve to a Imaj7-VI7b9 change to turn it around. The first set of three two-bar ii-V changes are tagged with a slurred octave played on the 3rd and 1st strings รก la Wes Montgomery (think Weekly Workout #5). To add to the value gained here, you're also playing many of the chords on swing eighth upbeats, which some are anticipating the bar on the upbeat of four - essential approaches to comping overall.
