Watch the Week 6: The I-IV-V Blues Progression online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from Songwriting For The Guitar
In this lesson, let's play through a standard 12-bar blues using several moveable dominant 7th chord voicings. A simple quarter note downstroke with the pick allows you to focus on the chord transitions.
We'll also look at some alternate dominant 7th chord voicings and examples of smaller moveable dominant 7th chord voicings played using 3 or 4 strings. These can be used in many different genres of music. The shapes are inversions, built off of the 3rd, 5th or 7th of the chord.
