Here we'll look at playing the five shapes in the key of A. Pay close attention to the fingering of the scale, one finger per fret. Play it using alternate pick strokes. Say the notes out loud as you play them.

Using the example key of A major, we're not using open strings, trying to find the lowest interval that a shape can be played from. In this key, it would an F#, which is the 6th note of the key of A, so begin with Shape 6 on the 2nd fret, low E string.
