Watch the Week 6: Cattle in the Cane - Part 1 online guitar lesson by Roberto Dalla Vecchia from Flat Out Flatpicking
Swing feel gives to your guitar playing a very nice bouncing effect. All the great musicians, flatpickers included, apply swing feel to a lot of songs, solos, etc. Fiddle tunes sound just great with a little bit of swing feel, and this week we will learn "Cattle in the Cane", both the lead and backup.
There are 2 "feels" in music:
Straight Feel: Eighth notes are evenly paced as they appear on written music.
Swing Feel: Eighth notes are played with an underlying triplet feel.
It is important to be aware of the difference and to apply one or the other feel according to the tune you are playing.
