Watch the Week 3: Metronome on 2 & 4 - Part 2 online guitar lesson by Roberto Dalla Vecchia from Flat Out Flatpicking
Now it is time to try to play a melody with the metronome clicking on the 2nd and 4th beat. Print out my arrangement of "Blackberry Blossom", it's fairly easy. Start practicing the song accenting the 2 and 4 without the metronome. Get familiar with this new pulse. Then turn the metronome on, set it at a slow speed, start counting, and go.
Now you're really playing the fiddle tune like a fiddler would do. Now your playing is more driving, it has the right groove. Doesn't it feel great!
