Watch the Week 5: Variations on a Theme of Mozart by Sor online guitar lesson by Andrew Leonard from Classical Guitar For The Blues, Jazz & Rock Player

Impressive, "flashy", and possibly easier to play than it sounds, this week we are going to work on the "A" section of Variation V from Fernando Sor's "Variations on a Theme by Mozart", Op. 9. In Variation V, the melody is played on the first string and the accompaniment is on the second string using descending slurs (pull offs) to an open B string throughout. This is a lot of fun to play and I wonder if the concept is something you can incorporate into your improvisation. Also, if you are interested in hearing a piece that takes this technique to an extreme, head to my website to see a video of the final movement of Carlo Domeniconi's "Koyunbaba" played by yours truly. www.Andrew-Leonard.com.
