Watch the G7 Blues Up The Neck: Chords & Licks online guitar lesson by Rob Garland from Melodic Soloing: Blues Chord Tones
Let's take a look at the chord tones that make up the I-IV-V chords of a G7 standard 12 bar blues shuffle in a different area on the neck. We'll play the chords and see the chord tones inside them.
G7 is a CAGED C7 shape on the DGB strings at the 9th fret. C7 is a CAGED E7 on the DGB strings and D7 is a CAGED G7 on the DGBE strings, but to keep it on the same string set let's play the notes C-D-F# on the DGB strings. Then play the arpeggios of G7, C7 and D7. In the next video, I'll play some licks extracting chord tones.
