Watch the Blues online guitar lesson by Jason Loughlin from Focus On: Western Swing
Western Swing also draws from the blues which was gaining in popularity but not in the way you expect. We're not going to be using the blues scale. What we will be using is the major pentatonic scale with a couple of key passing tones. We'll use this for the entire blues progression. We can target notes within this major pentatonic scale to help enforce the changes. Another important blues concept is the quarter step bend on the second scale degree. This is different from authentic blues where you would place your quarter step bend on the b3.
