Like any new style or technique, the more you have the sounds you’re aiming for in your head, the easier it is to start connecting the dots on the fingerboard. This is particularly true of slide, where you have to use your ears so much more to find the notes, and where there is so much nuance involved in how you approach and get out of each note.
