Watch the Modes online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Focus On: Funk Guitar
Going back to scales it's time to go heptatonic by way of two diatonic modes: Dorian and Mixolydian. Both scales sound amazing over the minor and dominant chords you're getting together. To best connect everything we're working on we'll work with fingerings based off the two minor pentatonic scales introduced in the Solo Concept 1 lesson. Because of this connection and given the seven tone element we're starting to work with there are some interesting fingering variables you have at your disposal I will point out and later exploit in the jams within Section 4.
Take note: In the chart the triangle scale degrees are the aforementioned variables. Also, notice the consistent color coding throughout all four scale grids to help you get to know where each degree is located in the scale.
