Watch the Pentatonic Minor online guitar lesson by Chris Buono from Focus On: Funk Guitar
When it comes to taking the first step in soloing over a funk vamp look no further than the minor pentatonic scale and its hexatonic cousin, the minor blues scale. These two scales have been the ultimate funk fodder for countless solos on countless recordings. And, for good reason - they never let you down! To keep things focused and to best set up for Section 4 I'll be showing the absolute must-know fingerings. Like the chords, I'm basing the fingerings off a sixth and fifth string vision with scales starting from the root and 5th degrees in Am.
Take note: The "Fingering #x" designations are from how I organize pentatonic scales in Guitar Gym: Scales
