Watch the The Londoner online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Focus On: British Blues
"The Londoner" is a basic 12-bar blues with a riff in the British tradition. In the solo I'm going to mix major and minor pentatonic scales, along with some cool bends, vibrato, and aggressive phrasing. I'm channeling Eric Clapton on this one as best I can! It's a little challenging for sure as the tempo is a little brisk. Like anything we learn, memorize the solo in your head first. Then take it lick by lick to break it down. This method of learning a solo really helps to not to get overwhelmed which is so easy to do when tackling tune. This is also one of my favorite things about teaching the blues as we can break down the solo chord to chord as well.
