Watch the Messin' Around online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Focus On: British Blues
This tune contains some tricky pre-bends that take some work to develop the hand strength and ear strength to make them possible. A great way to practice bending strings is to fret the note you want to bend to and listen to it. Then hit the note you want to bend from. Slowly bend the string until you reach your original pitch. Pay attention to how much effort this requires in your left hand as well. That is extremely important when utilizing pre-bends. It requires a great deal of practice, as does anything worthwhile. ;-) I am also utilizing the minor pentatonic scale with the natural sixth as I explained in the earlier section. This is a key element if you want to get into Peter Green's style of playing. This tune along with every other tune and we have done so far uses the idea of tweaking your flatted third. I discuss it in the first section so please take a look. I cannot stress enough the importance of getting this technique together. It will improve your playing dramatically in a very short period time.
