Watch the Van Stoneman Lick (3-3-2) online guitar lesson by Adrian Legg from Fingerstyle Revisionist: Origins

If, for a moment, we ignore the basic 4/4 simple time pulse and divide the bar into eight half-beats, it become easier to place the stagger along a count. I could talk about pulling it and show it across a standard one-and-two-and-three-and-four-and count, but I think we can leave considerations like that until well after you've taught your fingers to knock this out like a truck rolling downhill with no brakes.

So far, we haven't talked about tying two fingers to work together, and you might find this tricky at first. If you find it really problematic, try an elastic band around the ring (anular) and middle (medio) just to get the feel of it. We will explore it further very soon.
