Watch the After Paris online guitar lesson by John Knowles, C.G.P. from Fingerstyle Journals
You probably noticed that I'm making a big deal out of the length of each phrase in "After Paris". That's because I wrote the melody one phrase at a time. I would listen to what I had so far, and ask myself, "Now what?" So, I wrote the melody first, then the ending, and finally the intro. Several months passed before I realized I could play the intro like a first ending. That made "After Paris" twice as long. I've played this version as a solo and with a string quartet, The Endless Road Strings. And I've recently recorded it with Tommy Emmanuel. He added a little French atmosphere.
