Watch the Waltz For One online guitar lesson by Brooks Robertson from Fingerstyle Survival Guide

If playing a song in 3/4 time is new to you just take it very slow as you start in with the breakdown. My suggestion is utilizing a combination of the breakdown video, tablature and maybe even the performance video to work through the piece just a few measures at a time. This tune utilizes the waltz type patterns, double picking and of course variations in dynamics from both hands. You’ll find that slower ballads like this can be even more difficult than some of the more busy complex songs in section 2 because of the sparseness of notes and how accurate you have to be. This is a great opportunity to really use your control of the right hand to intentionally play the melody notes more pronounced than the lower chord tones or bass notes. Have fun with this great Buster B. Jones tune, dedicated to “Dance Man”.
