Watch the Live @ Five online guitar lesson by Brooks Robertson from Fingerstyle Survival Guide
Here’s an inspiring tune for you. “Live @ Five” is one of my favorite Buster B. Jones compositions. It’s from his album with the same title which he released in 1991 under his real name Brad Jones. If you can find the album it is absolutely worth having. Hearing Buster’s songs like this one is what drew me into wanting to play fingerstyle and learn how to make so much music come from one instrument. When you watch the video closely it is apparent that so many of the concepts and techniques we covered like alternating bass, syncopated patterns, double picking, right and left hand dynamics, etc. went into being able to play a tune like this. You can find an old instructional video that Buster did called “From The Woodshed To The Stage vol. 2” which includes a very detailed breakdown and explanation by Buster himself if you’re interested in learning this great song. I hope this tune motivates and interests you as much as it has me for all these years. This one is for you Buster!
