Watch the Weekend Boogie online guitar lesson by Ton van Bergeijk from Fingerstyle Blues & Boogie Guidebook
This is a type of guitar boogie more or less in what I consider the Jerry Reed style, only with plenty of thumb-stumbling going on. Boogie patterns on the guitar seem to work best in E or with a dropped D tuning in A and sometimes even D. That way you'll have open bass strings and most of your left hand fingers free for the root and 4th degree chords. The 5th degree chord is always a problem, but luckily only for one measure. For the puzzlers amongst us, it's a nice invitation for figuring sneaky ways out.
