Watch the Jazzy Jeff online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Solo Electric Blues
Jazzy Jeff is an introduction to playing a jazz blues. This one just uses the basic 12 bar I7, IV7, V7 progression with some fills thrown in to that outline the chord changes. There are more complicated changes that can be used in a jazz blues but I really wanted to work on getting the swing feel together before expanding the harmony. As I say throughout this course, when playing a solo blues we have to act as the rhythm section as well, that is why I am always thinking about what the drummer would be playing. I would highly suggest checking out some jazz blues tunes, Charlie Parker is a great place to start.
