Watch the Man Of The World online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Solo Electric Blues
The overall pulse of this blues, and almost all of them in this course comes from the right hand keeping the time. It's important to keep the heel of your hand on the bridge to facilitate muting the strings. We are not playing a full mute on this one, just enough to not have the low strings ring too much. The technique is like a bounce on and off the strings allowing that to ring more freely at times. This can be a bit difficult to master at first so be patient. This muting helps with the rhythmic feel and dynamics as well. Pick attack of course plays a large part in the dynamics but not all of it, muting is very effective as well.
