Watch the Man Of The World online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Solo Electric Blues
This tune is a play on Peter Green's "World Keep Turning", a solo blues. The song stays on the I chord the whole time. The I chord blues is not uncommon, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf used them all the time. When we have no chord changes the tune is almost all about the groove and dynamics, and therein lies the challenge. A fun challenge! A great exercise is to play the tune as softly and loud as you can. Go to both extremes and everything in between. Interject that into the blues and go overboard with it. By doing this it makes us aware of the full dynamic range of the guitar. I have found that being aware of something on the guitar is half the battle.
