Watch the C m11 Tuning online guitar lesson by Vicki Genfan from Essentials: Open Tunings
(*Naming: This one could also be called m9sus4. This implies the 3rd and 4th are voiced next to each other where m11 implies a voicing with the 4th up the octave, split from the third.) Deliciously hauntingly beautiful. This voicing is really easy to play on the piano, but incredibly hard to play (as a moveable chord) on guitar in standard tuning. I was thrilled to find it. Just playing a typical minor blues progression (i-iv-v) brings a whole new world and color scheme to the blues! You’ll hear some of that in the accompanying etude.
Songs of mine in this tuning: ‘Blow out That Flame’ (not yet recorded), ‘Fragile’ (Sting) on my UnCovered CD and the Chris Jones song, 'Ain't Got Love' on my Up Close & Personal CD.
