Watch the Magic Woman online guitar lesson by Jeff McErlain from Essentials: Chord Tone Soloing

Don't just learn my solos (although I hope you do), learn to the originals! Learn as many songs as you possibly can, memorize the guitar solos, try to perfect them, try to perfect the phrasing and vibrato, get every nuance you can, and repeatedly come back to a solo after time to see what you've missed.

Also try to apply the ideas that you've learned on any given solo in another context. Take note of your favorite licks, phrases, bends, vibrato, pauses, noises, etc. That's where the good stuff is; the actual notes are just the beginning of developing your own style and sound. Don't worry too much about sounding too much like someone else, that'll take a lot of work and effort. Plus, it's not worth it, there's another guy who can sound like Jeff Beck and that's his name.
