Watch the West Coast Waggin' online guitar lesson by Brooks Robertson from Essentials: Boom-Chick Fingerstyle Etudes

You'll see that "West Coast Waggin'" is a more complete, full length arrangement with an intro, distinct A and B sections, and a short ending. Throughout the piece, we will use multiple techniques including muffled boom-chick alternating bass, muting with the left (fretting) hand, descending banjo rolls, and some single string lines too.

I'll mention it once more so that I really sound like a broken record: Watch and listen to the performance video a few times to help become more familiar with the tune, form, phrasing, etc. Try humming the basic melody without your guitar. Having a sense of the general shape of the melody in your ear will help as you begin learning the piece. As you watch, focus your attention to what the right hand is doing, then rewind and watch again, this time focusing on what's happening with the left hand, considering how both hands work together as a team. Use this video as a resource to frequently reference and eventually to play along with as well. Don't forget to utilize the tabs, charts, and notation.
